In this tutorial, we will learn about a Free SEO Keyword Research Tool called Jaxxy. If you’ve built a website for the first time, you will be looking to conduct Free SEO Research. Jaxxy is a powerful and valuable way for you to conduct FREE SEO Research.
How Does SEO Work With Google
SEO stands for Search Engine Optimization. In a nutshell, it’s a fancy way to describe choosing the most relevant words that people search for to find the content they are looking for. Google is the best search engine in the world today. The reason is its ability to consistently find what people are looking for. So what does this have to do with SEO? Suppose you want to rank your website on Google. You need to have relevant keywords in your content for Google to index and rank your content according to their algorithm.
Step One: Getting Started
To get started with SEO Keyword research, you need to sign up for a FREE account with Jaxxy. Clicking on that link will provide you with 30 free keyword searches, which are more than enough to help you get started with SEO. You will also learn how you can use the results of your research to maximize the earning potential of both your current and future content.
Step Two: SEO Research
Before you run a search on Jaxxy, I want to show you how to make the best use of your first 30 free keyword searches. Then, to make it easier to follow along, Open another browser window and scale it until you can comfortably put it next to this window like this:
This way, you don’t have to keep switching back between windows. In your new window, go to Google.com and type a search phrase for a topic related to your niche but don’t press search yet. For this article, I’m going to type “Free SEO Research Tools.” Think of different phrases that people might search to find your content. When you type your keyword phrase it will likely look like this:
The predictive algorithm results you see here provide insight into what people are currently searching for. You can use these suggested results in many ways. I personally use it to find phrases that may I not have thought of before or even ideas for future content to write about. For the purposes of this lesson, however, I will use to research the first phrase that I typed in and the results it generated.
Now, go to Jaxxy and run your search for the first keyword phrase like so:
Step Three: Interpret The Results
Now we are going to learn how to interpret your search results. The most critical columns you need to focus on are QSR, Traffic and SEO. Keep in mind that these are estimates, and there are no guarantees. This is why I suggest you make a list of multiple keywords in the next step.
QSR: Tells you the number of competing websites ranked for the keyword phrase. Your ideal QSR should be LESS than 100. If the QSR is above 99 is likely to reduce the probability of your content indexed.
Traffic: This number estimates the number of visits you can expect to see if your page is ranked on the first page results for that search term.
SEO: This number provides a rough estimate of how likely you will rank on the first page based on your competition. The higher the number, the higher the probability of being on the first page for that keyword phrase.
We are looking for the lowest QSR and the highest SEO with at least some traffic. The strategy is to find the lowest competitive keywords. The less competitive the keywords are, the more likely you are to rank on the first page of google. So choose the lowest hanging fruit when you start out because it will help your website establish authority. As your site gains authority, the faster your articles will be indexed, the more traffic you gain, and the more potential profit you can make. Then you can begin to target more competitive keywords. For now, go for the easy wins to establish authority.
Step Four: Organize Your Keywords
In this step, you will want to make a list of your keywords. I personally recommend a list of five SEO keywords minimum. When you find a competitive keyword, click the box on the left:
Now click “save” at the top and you should see a box like this:
Title the list, click save and you’re done! Now that you added keywords to your list they show up as already being on your list when you run similar searches.
Step Five: Using Your KeyWords
Use your top search term as your blog title and use the EXACT keywords within the first paragraph of your blog post. This helps Google to know how to rank your website and ensures that it’s relevant by making sure the content is relevant to the title. There you have it, that’s the foundation of SEO in a nutshell. There are other things that will also help you to rank but I will discuss those in future articles. For now, please make sure that you read my warnings below because it is CRITICAL that you don’t make the same common mistakes most people do while performing search engine optimization.
Common SEO Mistakes to Avoid
Now that you know how to conduct effective keyword research, there are a few things you need to be aware of. You may feel tempted to inject the exact keywords into your articles as much as possible. Don’t do it. This is called “Keyword Stuffing,” and Google doesn’t like it. Google will penalize you for it by ranking the quality of your content lower in favour of content with more variance. People have tried game search algorithms in the past, and it was a problem. Not only did the articles they wrote appear unnatural, but they didn’t make sense. This is important to keep in mind because Google’s success depends on delivering the most relevant, high-quality content to its users. Google is incentivized to ensure that high-quality content is shown on the first page of search results before anything else. If you write articles with the intent to game google’s algorithm, it may work in the short term but not in the long term.
Exploiting SEO is Useless
Not only will google begin to rank your site lower, but your users also will not enjoy your content. This is VERY BAD for your conversion rates. Getting people to your website is not enough; you have to give them a reason to stay. The best way to make money online is to create value for your customers, and value always begins with trust. Trust can be established in many ways depending on your business model. Still, quality content is the best way to start. Quality content will generate better results and lead to a more reliable cash flow over the long term. Gaming google’s algorithm will not. You will spend more time chasing keywords only to lose the short-term traffic gains than making money. Ranking your content by becoming an authority site is better for your time. Not to mention a more reliable income.
How to Make The Best Use of SEO
Write for your audience NOT Google’s algorithm. Don’t be afraid to use the same keyword more than once, but only if it is natural. The key to success with SEO is to drive your target demographic to the page you want. This is where your overall marketing strategy will come into play. If you don’t have a strategy yet, don’t overcomplicate it; for now, just think about the experience you want new users to have when they go to your website. Consider it from their perspective. Have a landing page to direct your audience to but never sell them on the first contact. I’ll be discussing this more in my upcoming strategy tutorial.
Conclusion
You have many options for SEO Research tools but choosing a free research method is the best way to start. Using tools like Jaxxy will give you an edge over competitors who don’t. So take the time to conduct proper SEO Keyword Research. Remember to avoid Keyword Stuffing and stay consistent. Google loves consistency but always focuses on helping your audience before trying to sell them. If you want people to pay for your offers, you need to first make it worth their while.
